THE MYSTERY OF MONEY
Money is a highly mysterious 'energy'.
As we look more closely, it becomes apparent that no matter what your situation, for the most part, money has us, we don't have money. In the same way, jobs have people, people don't have jobs. Yes I know, everything is upside down and pretty much no one can see it.
For example, I know billionaires who still feel unworthy, endlessly chasing more 'stuff' to fill that void. I know people awash with abundance and resources, that on the surface, appear to have everything, but still wake up with a sinking feeling of dread in their gut, telling them that something is going to knock them sideways, take everything away. Somehow money has found its way into the deepest parts of our being, entangled with the very nature of our emotions and feelings.
The creative mind - the artistic mind - with its high levels of sensitivity and desire to explore reality in unique ways, has been particularly prone to the harsh conditioning and anti-creative systems that have formed around the very idea of money or the concept of exchange. We are told that its a dog-eat-dog world, survival of the fittest, to make money you have to be cold and aggressive.
The image of the starving, damaged artist has become woven into the fabric of our culture. The media constantly reinforces this idea. I've lost count of the number of people I've encountered who adored being creative as a child, but were told that they would end up impoverished and must focus on pursuing a 'proper' profession. For example, my wife Esther, who is now an amazing artist, creativity coach and all round super expressive being, was forbidden to take art at school, and forced to study accountancy at university. It took falling sick and suffering from deep depression, for her to wake up to the terrible price of living a life that was completely out of alignment with her true spirit, and embrace her love of art and all things creative.
Let's just explore your own relationship to money and being creative....
What if I told you that money is like sunshine...You can bask in it and feel its light and the goodness it radiates. It gives to everyone and you just have to stand in its rays to benefit from the light of abundance.
Just allow that to sink in for a moment - visualise it - feel it in your body. How does that make you feel? What thoughts arise? Is there a voice that says ‘ridiculous’ or ‘that’s only true for the few’, maybe ‘it’s lovely BUT only true for other types of people and not me’…
So from here, let me ask you, what is it okay to want, or what are you ‘allowed’ to want? Is it acceptable for you to want a ton of money, or is it kind of gross or greedy or even bad to want plenty of money?
Is there something that tells you that you cannot be fully creatively expressed and make money, or that your creative spirit has to be compromised in order to be wealthy - have more than enough money to do what you want?
When you think about money, is there any freedom there, moreover is there any JOY or FUN connected to being creative and making money. Maybe it’s like there are two realms, one is art and creativity, the other is business and making money and the two realms remain sealed off from one another, permanently separated by some mysterious force.
Do you think that you can only make money if you work your ass off or sacrifice spending time with people you love?
Basically for countless creative-led people money shows up as a joyless goad, a punisher, something that sits forever out of reach, or something that is scarce and mystifying - a symbol of what’s wrong with the world. In the extreme it is perceived as something evil.
As I've said, money is indeed very mysterious, it can shape-shift into different forms and meanings, it's a form of energy or a symbol or mathematical or a storage system of value or an emotional activator.
My name is Davide De Angelis and as a life-long creative, and now as an elder, I’ve been through practically every possible situation and emotion on my journey and relationship to money. I’ve been totally broke, I’ve built highly successful businesses working with some of the worlds most iconic creators such as David Bowie and Steve Jobs where money flowed like a vast, abundant river. On the flip side, I’ve been hundreds of thousands in debt - utterly wiped on benefits, hopeless and even hysterical, only to rise out of the ashes and create globally bestselling products and new business ventures.

I carry the wisdom, the knowledge, the grit and the love to stay open and receptive to a much smaller, but infinitely more joyful river of money that I get to swim in and now share with others on their journey with being a sensitive creative and making money.
Through this epic journey, I’ve been totally fascinated and at times obsessed with how money arises in reality and how it has literally shaped our orientation to life. I’ve come across some amazing ideas and ways to radically transform my entire relationship to money and living within the context of abundance. It’s been a journey of discovery and just to be totally transparent, bloody challenging at times. I am still always learning and evolving, working through layers of old limiting beliefs.
But within all this, I’ve discovered how to greatly quieten, and at times silence, the miserable voice in my head that was constantly blocking me from truly shinning - even when to the outside world I appeared to be shining brightly.
I now intimately understand how money has been served up to us in a linear format that mostly runs counter to how our creative, non-linear minds naturally flow through life. But importantly, I’ve discovered that it is possible to utterly reimagine our relationship and ways in which we work with money in order to be both creative, offering our gifts to the world and at the same time, constantly opening to money flowing easily into our lives. I’ve proved to myself and now to literally thousands of other highly creative people that pretty much every belief we carry through life about money is ultimately just made up and collapses when placed under the loving light of enquiry.
I’ve really fallen into the role of helping creative people get good at making money and actualising fresh opportunities. I absolutely didn’t set out to teach and guide people to become Creative Entrepreneurs. That said, it’s been utterly amazing and beautiful to be of service and help so many step into a new understanding about money and find ways to flourish through their creative gifts.
As it turns out, the guiding light to all this - my passion for the power and wonder of our creative spirit - has become increasingly radiant as I see how this strange world we are living through is crushing so many beautiful, talented creatives. As I’ve already said, we are ‘educated’ - conditioned - that the only way to have want we want and make money is to trudge and stumble through the often harsh, unforgiving linear mind of convention. As creative souls, we are like butterflies trying to fly in a hurricane. The results of believing the spell woven by this unforgiving and often brutal viewpoint of reality are now obvious to see - a world that doesn’t work for the vast majority of people.

I believe that creativity is a vital part of us making it through this deeply challenging phase. Creativity is essential if we are to radically redefine what money even is - to reimagine a world in which we can bring our creativity fully to life.
